New Release from Zingaia – Earth Church
Where the Sensual Meets the Sacred
If you are like us, you probably like to know as much as you can about music you love, so here is some background about Zingaia and their just-released 4th album, Earth Church.
Since the release of their 1st album back in 1997, Zingaia has been building a very loyal audience for their own pagan spirituality meets electronica brand of worldbeat groove music. The mastermind of Zingaia is Michael Breen, an accomplished jazz pianist and composter/arranger. Along with his wife Katlyn Breene who is known for her Mermade Incense blends and magically goddess artwork (which has graced all four Zingaia album covers) and female guest vocalists, Zingaia has been releasing some of the most sensuous and compelling world music today.
The thing that is so unique about the music of Zingaia is that their music flows from a deep connection to their own earth-based spirituality. So while at first listen their music might have some things in common with other world music, there is actually something far deeper going on here. The music of Zingaia is a carefully crafted invocation to the the Goddess which is meant to provide soundtracks for sacred dancing, ritual and tantra.
There are parts that are soothing and sensuous and other songs that will make you want to move your body and dance with abandon. Often there are sacred chants from Egypt, Greece or ancient Mediterranean cultures. It’s like taking a trip into a Goddess temple where pleasure and sensuality are all just different ways to worship and celebrate the Goddess. Their music is invigorating and soothing at the same time.
Highlights include the title track "Earth Church" that features the powerful voice of Samina Oshun in a song of devotion for the Earth. "Afro Tekno" is a blend of African rhythms and voices with electronic music trance textures, while "the Message" is a sultry tantric invitation to sensuality. Let yourself go into the sacred moment – perfect for trance dancing, tantra, flow yoga and connecting with your own life force!
We've been playing this in our offices for a while now and it's been creating a great vibe with lots of good energy.
