Built in the minds and hearts of musician-producers David and Steve Gordon, the Buddha Lounge series is a chance for the brothers to create perfect moods with a little help from their friends. Buddha Lounge 3 remixes the Gordon's work with acclaimed world and New Age DJs and remix artists like Ginkgo Garden, Bobby Cochran, Joe Weineck, Alcyone, Opera to Relax, Jaya Lakshmi, and Marcator. The result is a seamless set of slow grooves that go well with a single candle on the coffee table, as you, and maybe a lover, unwind like slowly uncoiling spirals of light and love. It's also good for yoga, light workouts, or running, and never misses a beat or loses its sense of cosmopolitan cool.

Tya's "Akwaba" opens with a low single drone, gradually expanding with synthesizer squiggles, thick percussion loops, and devotional singing flowing out in all directions. Tau's "Garden of Tiki" comes dripping out in a slinky bell-tone melody with a female beautiful voice rolling in like a hazy cloud over the sunshine while a lower male vocal hums underneath. The cumulative effect is deeply settling and meditative, ideal music for late at night, surrounded by glowing citronella candles and watched over by a benevolently beaming moon.

The Gordon brothers are more than just DJs here, though their beats merge and flow together so well they'd be fine doing just that. Steve Gordon's incomparable flutes in "Earth Meets Sky, Part 2 (Buddha Edit)" cast hawk-shaped shadows over a busy road of happy singing, growling didgeridoo, clay-pot percussion, and soaring female vocals. A deep bass workout with eerie chime accents from Bobby Cochran helps etch in the exotic latticework shadows as low-end bass works into your bones and drains the toxins.

We unwind so that we may wind back up refreshed and ready to go out and face the world, be it a whole new continent, a new club, or a first date in a strange place. Life is for living and in Buddha Lounge 3 the living is easy. Simply breathe in the moment of that one beat "that one perfect moment of silence before the music resumes" and let your heart feel free again like it was always meant to be. Lounging with Buddha you can feel safe and snug in your human body spaceship.

New Age Journal
Yet another great album. It's a little bit of Africa, the Middle East and jazz all combined for a smooth relaxing sound. Fascinating blend of flutes, percussion, vocals and techno go into creating this ultra chill-out CD.

Music Design In Review
Sensuality, spirituality and club culture all collide on the third edition of the popular "Buddha-Lounge" series from the Sequoia sub-label Sequoia Groove. Like the previous two albums, number three promises ample atmosphere for the "chill-out" experience, featuring a non-stop mix of sublime cuts from some of the worldbeat genre's most innovative artists. Tya opens the album on a euphoric note with the smooth beats and haunting chants of his song "Akwaba." What follows are songs like the leisurely paced, Asian themed "A Mystic Day in Mandalay" from Gingko Garden, the ecstatic Middle Eastern grooves of Nasser Kilada and plenty more examples of sonic bliss from the likes of Jaya Lakshmi, David and Steve Gordon, Tau, and Opera to Relax.

Vision Magazine
This album is my favorite kind of chill out music. I am not a big fan of those groove albums that have elevator potential, even if it's [a] really cool elevator in a trendy new building. The Buddha Lounge series is a solid pick from the start, but this one is my favorite. The music is truly relaxing and enjoyable without being monotonous. It is chill enough to have at the office and you can talk on the phone without being distracted. Its also an excellent yoga accompaniment. There is a lot of energy combined with sacred sounds and smooth chants. It would also be a great album to sleep to, I'm sure it would provoke enlightening dreams. This is too cool for any elevator.

The Pagan Review
Another great compilation arranged by the Gordon brothers. Buddha-Lounge 3 offers up some real tasty treats for your delight. The Gordon brothers have a wonderful talent for knowing inspirational music when they hear it and make the most of this gift by sharing the music with others. Many of these songs command you to get up and move to the beat. The music is sexy, and seductive with a gyrating beat. This is modern music with a flavorful past.
