"Groove Tribe" utilizes Native American tribal drumming as a base on which to expand and contract into dimensions where microcosm and macrocosm meet, David and Steve Gordon make the utmost of the spacious recording warmth with pan pipes and Native American flute soaring overhead while the drums and thick, phat bass root below to create a full on sound spectral holistic journey spectacular. "Fire Dancer" opens things with Steve's flues and David's frame drums anchoring some growling synths that cohere into a bone-healing fuzz-box bass anchoring you to the earth's core. A beautiful simple four-note guitar line, reverberating chimes. Deep male chanting runs under "Hanub Ku Transmitter' while "Sacred Medicine" has a pleasantly ominous, irresistible bass line running under gradually accruing synthesizers.
