The first rays of sunlight pierce the morning mist, revealing a serene glade hidden deep within the forest. The gentle melodies of David Gordon's piano and electronic keyboard float through the trees, as the sound of birds and a bubbling stream seem to join in harmony. THe meadow awakens to the whisper on a silver flute and the pure tones of Steve Gordon's acoustic guitar. The enchanting music unfolds producing a quietly powerful and captivating experience. This is the original nature music classic that helped to pioneer the entire New Age Music movement.

This delightful, soothing instrumental music is filled with bird songs and the sound of a rushing stream which were recorded in the Sierras. The Gordons have skillfully blended in musical strains from acoustic guitar, piano, electronic keyboard and flute. As the first sunbeams irradiate a misty glade, whispers of a silver flute awaken the forest scene, lifting one into a quietly powerful experience of peace and serenity. In a meditative mood I float with Waterlillies, rocked gently by a light breeze as I bask in the morning sun and drink in the affirmations implicit in the cheerful, uninhibited songs of the birds. Recommended.
All Music Guide
This lovely album from 1983 continues to be a steady seller for David and Steven Gordon. The basis for the album, are the songs of forest birds and the babbling of streams that the brothers recorded in Sequoia National Forest. Free-form melodies for guitar, flute, and synthesizer keyboards are played in concert with these environmental sounds for a relaxing, yet invigorating, effect. The mellow nature sounds could have lured the brothers to "mush out" their music, but most of the themes, harmonies, and synthesizer effects are original and quite refreshing.

Napra Review
The Sequoia National Forest gave of its beautiful sounds ---birds, br' ooks, wind ---for the backdrop of this relaxing album. The Gordons play synthesizers, guitar, flute, and piano gently improvising with this delicate and shimmering environment. Some melodies and sounds float with the elements, while some have more structure. Misty Forest Morning is not too sweet, and it offers an enticing variety of moods. Sometimes it questions, sometimes it caresses. Sometimes it surrenders.

These selections radiate tranquility. The lilting refrains from the melding of grand piano, polyphonic synthesizers and acoustic guitars weave in and out of the natural sounds of birds, brooks and wind recorded at Sequoia national Forest in California.
In the liner notes, the Gordons speak of their desire to "capture the essence of that magical place in the mountains." With MISTY FOREST MORNING they have achieved their goal, and created a musical escape from the hectic pace of daily life.
