As the title of this mesmerizing CD indicates, Shajan's music is absolutely ideal for healing bodywork, such as Reiki, massage therapy, and acupuncture, as well as yoga and meditation. From the first notes of the opening track, listeners will begin to let go of the daily stress that knots muscles and stiffens joints. Shajan makes excellent use of silent space as well as sound, recognizing that quiet moments allow toxins to surface and be tended. Shifting from the keyboard sounds of an angelic choir to singing birds to piano-like notes to cosmic effects, the four 15-minute tracks create a complete soundtrack for any hour-long session. The Healing Touch: Music for Reiki and Meditation, Vol. 2 is recommended to healing practitioners, as well as to listeners just looking to take the foot off the pedal.

Music Design in Review
Perfect for providing an oasis of peace in the span of one's day, Shajan's second album of music for the Asian healing arts is just as lush and exquisite as the first. This is music that makes your mind want to drift far away from the stresses and strains of everyday life to a place of eternal comfort and calm. As a trained Reiki master, Shajan knows what those practicing the art would want in terms of background music. As such, this flowing soundscape features layers of silky synthesizer washes dotted with the sound of flute, bells and nature sounds. Saying that the music is serene is an understatement, this four extended length cuts are so concentrated in their tranquility that listening to them is like getting a mental massage. Just close your eyes and let your mind roam free. This album is also great for yoga, relaxation or any other mindfulness/healing activity.

London-born Reiki master Shajan has created a wealth of melodic tones, spine-tingling drones, and nature sounds with his second volume of Music for Reiki and Meditation. What immediately stands out is the bold sharpness of many of the notes and tones here. Shajan knows his business and is not afraid to go out on a limb with music that aims straight for pressure areas of the body via the ears. Just as reflexology uses points in the foot to access the rest of the body, Shajan uses the ear, giving us his masterful use of electronic musical tonalities to awaken the spine and nervous system with shivering delight. Thus while the mind reposes into a gentle state of meditation via birdsong, trickling water, soft wood-flute pizzicato, and unobtrusive drones, the body is played like an electric xylophone via Shajan's goose-pimple-inducing electricity.
"Light Touch" begins by layering ascending glissando synths to create a hovering sense of presence. One can feel the tonalities lighting up the spine with the tactile vibrations of a barber's electric razor on the back of the neck and especially when a backsliding tone appears that sounds like a crying baby mixed with a Weed Whacker. Shajan is not wasting time here; the music hones in on its target like a healing missile before dissolving near the end into a dreamy vocal chorale. The following track, "Hands of Light," opens with the sound of peacefully chirping birds. These are gradually met by echoing plucks of synthesizer strings, creating a sublime sense of the natural external and internal worlds harmonizing.
Each of the album's tracks is an ideal length for beginning meditation, and each is different enough to create its own unique experience•from the gongs sounding like distant thunder in "Journey to the Heart" to the gently crashing surf and echoing pizzicato flute of "Turn of the Tides." A student of an array of musical styles before heeding the inner call of Reiki work, Shajan's music is fully functional as an aid to professional massage therapists and yoga and meditation teachers, since it's made by one who is a master of both healing and musical arts. These sounds are alive and seem to instruct the body in a language that bypasses the mind altogether. Close your eyes and you can feel yourself guided by his gentle melodic directions; the effect is like a slow awakening of electrical light throughout the body.
