What people are saying about Hotel Tara:
'If you need a compilation to hold you over until the next installment in Sequoia's "Buddha-Lounge" series gets released, HOTEL TARA is the perfect place to take up residence. Like that series, the album features a luscious non-stop mix of ethnic-flavored grooves, spiritual essence and intoxicating beats compiled and mixed by the Gordon brothers. HOTEL TARA ups the "dreamy" quotient, creating an atmosphere that is at once peaceful and soulful. The beats are low-tempo and many of the songs have a touch of Indian instrumentation as well as a subtle retro-lounge flair. Artists include David and Steve Gordon, Gingko Garden, Althea W., Jaya Lakshmi, Artemisia and others. This is a great album for anyone looking for music that is mellow and cerebral - it is perfect for chilling out to.'
- Music Design In Review
'David and Steve Gordon, the go-to compilers and DJs for the Sequoia Groove label, are back with another thoroughly enjoyable compilation of chill-out groove music. Call it "mystical world groove" or "sensuous nu-global" music, but really, it’s is a three-way cross between worldbeat, ambient, and New Age music…those who appreciate these genres will find plenty to love in these Sequoia Groove collections. Funky as they can get - and they do get pretty funky at times - they're never anything less than pleasant and gentle. Hotel Tara features a very cool surf-derived bassline on Ginkgo Garden's "Woodland Ride", a fun mix of faux-Gregorian chant and found-sound space-mission dialogue on Joe Weinick's "Apollo13", the unimpeachably funky "Radio Shamanistan” by Opera to Relax and linger a little over Jaya Lakshmi's gorgeous "Govinda Hari". Very nice overall.'

'HOTEL TARA, The Intimate Side of Buddha Lounge, is a collection of some of Sequoia Groove artists’ top shelf tracks. Intended for a relaxing evening at home… the fourteen songs are a cool blend of spacey New Age, tribal, dance and a healthy dose of East meets West - a laid-back stream of consciousness laced with tribal drums, Eastern inspired instrumentations and dream-like croons….an excellent trip hop groove fest, making full use of samples and mellow keyboards to create an otherworldly vibe full of very jazzy lounge tunes. Sequoia Groove compilations such as HOTEL TARA serve as a good way to introduce new listeners to some pretty cool, chilled out artists.'

?In massage therapy, music is a (welcome) feature of the work. In fact, it is a vital component, no matter the treatment being performed. My wife and I own a small practice with two studios in town; Hotel Tara is in ?heavy? rotation. At first, I thought the material might come off as a bit ?suggestive?; after all, it would be easy to pigeonhole this in the ?sexy lounge? file. But, Hotel Tara is too sophisticated for that. The groove is infectious, and the arrangements paced just right. With such a chill mood in a massage room, relaxation is effortless.?
